Abstract

Small-Medium Enterprises are the backbone of a nation's economic and industrial growth because they play an essential role in absorbing the workforce, increasing the number of business units, and improving the family income. They are considering the significant contribution of small and medium enterprises to the public economic and public welfare. Therefore, a strategic step for the global competition is required. One considered strategy is the application of the e-commerce system in Small-Medium Enterprises. A research method is a case study about Kripik Tempe entrepreneurs in Kampung Sanan of Malang. The review result indicates that 23.82 % are already familiar with the e-commerce system. In comparison, 39.48 % acknowledge information and communication technology and benefit from the internet for information searching but disregard the e-commerce system application. Moreover, 36.70 % do not know at all about ICT. The single-use and easy use of an e-commerce system are two categories for the familiar one. The strategy considered to improve e-literacy for Kripik Tempe entrepreneurs is a technical strategy mediated by government agencies.
