Abstract

In this article, Benny Afwadzi discusses Juynboll’s thought on al-hadith al-mutawatir (the hadith that is believed to be reported by a huge number of transmitters). Analyzing Juynboll’s work on the subject, Afwadzi comes to the conclusion that according the former al-hadith al-mutawatir never existed in the reality, including the hadith: man kazzaba ‘alayya muta’ammidan fal yatabawwa’ maq’adahu min al-nar. Juynboll’s thought is based the arguments that he calls argumentum e-silentio and common link theory.
