Abstract
Research has been carried out on the geothermal potential in the Cangar hot springs, Batu City, East Java based on the gravity method using the La Coste & Romberg G1053 series of Gravity-meters. Data collection was carried out at 20 observation points around Cangar hot springs. The results of the research on the density contrast value of the AA' incision are divided into 3 main layers in general, the three rock layers are: Andesite at the bottom at a depth of 0.5 km –1 km, the density value is 2617 kg/m3. That is, in the upper layer there is an andesitic breccia with a density value that is not much different, namely 2680 kg/m3 with a depth of 0.3 –0.5 km. While near the surface it is andesitic tuff deposits with a density value of 2685 kg/m3. For density contrast values, the BB' incision is divided into three main rock layers including: Andesite with a density value of 2620kg/m3 in the basement or bottom layer of the model (depth 0.5 –1 km). Then breccia-andesitic with a density value of 2678 –2695kg/m3. Near the surface it is andesitic tuff with density values ranging from 2660to 2677 kg/m3. The presence of this breccia-andesite layer is very good as a water reservoir because it has a high porosity.
