Abstract

This book explores educational programs of pesantren and examines the discourse of the perspectives of the pesantren community concerning globalization challenges to deal with educational and cultural transformation. There is a phenomenon that has recently existed in Javanese pesantren, where Islamic studies are no longer the only subject taught to santri. By this, javanese pesantren, particularly Pesantren Salaf that was traditionally reluctant to change, is now exposed to transformation. This book explores the ways in which pesantren deal with the demand for cultural and educational transformation.
