Abstract

Purpose - to investigate the green purchase intention of electric vehicles by using TPB and adding other antecedent Charging Facilities and Vehicle Performance following government policies in Indonesia.
Design / methodology / approach - This study uses 170 samples of electric vehicle users in East Java. Research analysis using SEM with Smart PLS stats was applied to evaluate the association between Environmental Concern (EC), Attitude (AT), social norm (SN), perceived behavioural control (PBC), Charging Facilities, Vehicle Performance, knowledge, Green Purchase Intention to Electric Vehicles (GPIEV).
Findings - The results showed that Attitude, Subjective Norm, Knowledge, Charging Facilities, and Vehicle Performance affected Green purchase intention for Electric Vehicles. However, environmental concern and Perceived behavioural control did not affect GPIEV.
Originality / value - The originality of the findings in this study is how to develop a theory of planned behavior (TPB). The findings in this study implicate that the Indonesian people's interest in buying electric vehicles is shaped directly by their attitude in the form of beliefs about certain behaviours and their consequences.
