Abstract

Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Malang) features a prominent educational approach known as the "ma’had" method or campus-based Islamic boarding school for all first-year students. The design concept for the ma'had buildings adheres to Green & Smart Building principles, emphasizing the minimization of energy consumption and reduction of CO2 emissions. This article evaluates the energy efficiency level of the Ma’had Sunan Ampel Al-Aly building design at UIN Malang Campus III. The methodology involves computational simulation analysis, utilizing detailed engineering design (DED) data translated through Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (REVIT) and subsequently assessed using the Edge Building software. The Edge Building software assesses three interconnected major aspects: energy, water, and materials, each accounting for a minimum of 20%. The research findings indicate a strong influence of material and water usage on the energy aspect of the building. Changes in water and material conservation strategies significantly impact the energy demand of the building. The analysis results reveal -9.34% for energy, 32.64% for water, and -84.66% for materials. Based on the Edge Building software calculations, it is concluded that the building does not yet meet the criteria for a green building in terms of energy and material aspects.
