Abstract
This research presents the experiences and views of egalitarian women's leadership based on cultural wisdom at three universities in Indonesia and Malaysia. The purpose of this paper is to review the achievements of egalitarian women leaders in Malaysian and Indonesian universities who hold the cultural principles around their environment to be the basic values of their personal and organizational development. The article analyzes data collected through interviews, observations and literature review. The study emphasises that women's leadership is not only a managerial practice but also a commitment to building equality through the implementation of Malay and Indonesian cultural values. The approach of Malay and Indonesian cultural values in egalitarian women's leadership practices is used to identify egalitarian women's leadership in realizing the university's mission toward an internationally reputable campus. Thus, although in terms of organizational structure, women's leadership is not yet proportional, it has a great influence in the three universities in Malaysia and Indonesia. This study recommends future research to use a more exploratory approach to egalitarian women's leadership based on cultural wisdom but also as a basis in building a more women-friendly and inclusive international university.
