Abstract

The challenges and opportunities faced by Islamic religious colleges based on Islamic boarding schools in achieving accreditation standards and intellectual development are important for understanding the dynamics of religious education in Indonesia. Some of the challenges that may be faced include: limited resources, a curriculum that is not integrated with national academic standards, and low accessibility of information and technology. However, a number of opportunities for these colleges are the institutional potential of Islamic boarding schools where the basis of Islamic boarding schools as traditional institutions provides strong potential in maintaining Islamic identity and moral values in the college environment, public recognition of the contribution of its graduates that graduates from religious colleges often receive public recognition for their expertise in the fields of religion and spirituality, and support from the government and society. This is certainly thanks to the awareness of the importance of religious education, Islamic boarding school-based colleges receive support from both the government and society in facing the challenges of accreditation and intellectual capital development.
