Abstract

Qira'atul Quran, or recitation of the Koran, is a fundamental aspect of Islamic tradition and worship. It covers the art and science of reciting the Koran by observing certain rules in pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm. This practice has enormous significance in Islamic culture, as it is believed to convey the divine message of the Koran with precision and beauty. The study of Qira'atul Quran involves mastering various modes of recitation (qira'at) that have been conveyed through the oral traditions of the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him) to his companions and subsequent generations. Each mode of recitation has its own set of rules and characteristics, which are carefully guardedand studied by scholars of Quranic knowledge, Qira'atul Quran not only plays a role in maintaining the linguistic and aesthetic integrity of the Quran, but also as a spiritual practice for Muslims. Reading the Koran with correct pronunciation and reading style is considered an act of worship and devotion, which is believed to bring spiritual purification and blessings to the reader.
