Abstract

Andalusian literature often looks different from Arabic literature. The elements of climate, environmental conditions, racial characteristics, and the situation of the times also influence the style of Andalusian literature. Ibn Zaidun's poetry reflects the life of the Andalusian people who store some social facts in his era. This study aims to review and describe the social facts of Andalusian society towards Ibn Zaidun's poetry and tahniah according to three points (race, climate, and time) in the perspective of Hippolite Adolf Taine. This qualitative research methodology uses literary research methods and literature review based on the Hippolite Taine perspective. This study reveals several results regarding Andalusian social facts with three points, namely: 1) Spirit-Race, Andalusian society has the character of liking to write poetry for some leaders; 2) Milieau-Climate, the background of the cool climate of Andalusia and the natural conditions surrounded by beautiful green plants have a strong influence on Andalusian literature, giving rise to many expressions of natural beauty in their poems, especially in praise (madah) and congratulations (tahniah) in Ibn Zaidun's poem; 3) Momen-condition, Andalusian people's love for entertainment and singing, it’s privileged them with many muwashahat, so that poets paid great attention to rhyme (qafiyah) in their poetry, as well as the many uses of the Andalusian language with Arabic writing in many poems.
