Abstract

This research aims to dissect the matrix and trace the hypogram of the poem Hal Hadzihi 'Alamah by Nizar Qabbani through Riffaterre's semiotic perspective, by analyzing poetic symbols and expressions that contain ungrammaticality. Research data collection was carried out using the close reading method, while data analysis used a qualitative-descriptive model guided by Riffaterre's semiotic theory. Data analysis is carried out by finding matrices as well as actual and potential hypograms, then annotating them using twofold reading: namely heuristics and hermeneutics. The findings of this research are that Nizar's poem was written to remember the figure of the girl who always shadowed the lyricist wherever she was. This matrix is obtained through a model in the form of words, expressions, diction, language styles, which express allusions that lead to the figure of a girl (سَيِّدَتِيْ). Meanwhile, the potential hypogram is the figure of sayyidati (سَيِّدَتِيْ) itself along with its variants in poetry such as diction (أَنْتِ), (أُنْثاَيَ), and (دُمْيةٌ). The actual hypogram of the lines of Nizar Qabbani's poetry is the figure of a woman who is Nizar Qabbani's wife, namely Balqis al-Rawi or it could also be that the actual hypogram is another poem that is similar to this poem in the same anthology, namely the poem entitled (هَلْ يَعْرِفُ القُرَّاءُ؟).
