Abstract
This study is a comparative qualitative research of Tablighi Jama’at in Indonesia and Australia. By stressing to the comprehensive study of majority and minority Muslim, developing and developed countries aspect, this study also aims to explore the political quietism and religious moderation patterns applied in Indonesia and Australia. The result stated that Khuruj still the main program for spreading Islam in both Australia and Indonesia. There is no specific method used in Da’wa strategy of Tablighi Jama’at during Khuruj or other program of TJ. Some strategy differences appear naturally and contextually, without any specific and organized planning. The building of school or institution is also built naturally without intervention of Tablighi center in Nidzamiyah. While in Indonesia, the institution is affiliated formally with TJ in term of program and so on, the institution in Australia are begun firstly with maktab (a home informal Islamic teaching for memorizing Qur’an) and never noted as Tablighi instutution. In term of religious moderation, TJ applied 6 models of religious moderation. TJ also categorized a moderate group or organization. In term of politic, rather than seeking to improve the well-being of society as a whole, TJ focuses on transforming the individual. This approach allows the group to remain adaptable with diverse socio-political contexts and has facilitated its expansion. TJ avoids political confrontation, allowing it to exist in countries around the globe
