Abstract

The process of coaching in prisons are often unable to show a progress to overcome the psychological problem. It is indicated with crime repetition in daily reports. Expectation is the ability of ourself in difficult circumstances to find a way to sloved it and it is accompanied with motivation to achieve the goal. Prisoners who show better behavior change is an individual with a positive expectation on the future, so that can reduce potential crime behavior after released. This study is to determine the effects of expectations on recidivist tendencies. The study involved inmates correctional institutional Class 1 in Malang with 133 subjects. Data collection techniques used simple random sampling. The data obtained through skala harapan and PCL-R (psychopathology checklist-Revised) to measure the propensity of recidivists. The result of this study is indicated a positive influence between the expectations of recidivist tendency to prisoners.
