Abstract
The aim of this case study qualitative research is to analyze the learning community in Griya Pintar in Trenggalek that succeeded in educating adult and elder people (andragogy). The result showed that the transformation of the Islamic education system in Griya Pintar started: First: Islamic education program for children. At the beginning of its development, only a child is joining Griya Pintar. When Griya Pintar offered Islamic education widely to the society, positive interest also came from adult and elder people. Second: differentiated study time. Griya Pintar allocated study time for adult and elder people in the evening after they went home from work, while for children in the afternoon after school. Third: leveling class. After having a placement test in reading Arabic letters, adults and older people were placed in a class based on their competency. After mastering one level, then adults and elders are permitted to enter the higher class. Fourth: no profit-oriented, only social action. Adults and elders who joined Griya Pintar did not pay anything for the services, and the teacher in Griya Pintar also did not paid since they considered it community services. Further, some teacher in Griya Pintar is also their own son/doughter.
