Abstract
Purpose - To investigate the pro-environment behavior of millennial travelers using destination social responsibility as a moderating variable. This study uses the Value Identity Personal Norm Model approach.
Design / methodology / approach - This study uses 202 criteria samples for young tourists who have visited popular natural tourist destinations in Malang, East Java. Research analysis using SEM with Smart PLS statistics was applied to evaluate the association between Altruistic Value (AV) and Biospheric Value (BV) on Environmental self-identity (ESI). Next, analyze the influence of Environmental Self-Identity (ESI) on Personal Norm (PN), the impact of Personal Norm (PN) on Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), the influence of Destination Social Responsibility (DSR) on Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), the impact of Green Trust (GT) on Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), testing the moderating effect of Destination Social Responsibility (DSR) between Personal Norm (PN) on Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB).
Findings - The results showed that Altruistic Value (AV) and Biospheric Value (BV) affect Environmental self-identity (ESI). Next, Environmental Self-Identity (ESI) influences Personal Norm (PN), Personal Norm (PN) influences Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), Destination Social Responsibility (DSR) influences Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), Green Trust (GT) impacts Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB), Destination Social Responsibility (DSR) moderated between Personal Norm (PN) on Pro-environmental Behavior (PEB).
