Abstract
Teaching Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) in Jordan aims to meet the needs of modern society, particularly in academic, professional, and religious fields. Although Arabic is the primary language, a significant challenge arises in the use of Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha), especially among the younger generation who are more accustomed to local dialects (Amiya) or foreign languages such as English. This research aims to explore the phenomenon of teaching Modern Standard Arabic, the public’s awareness of its usage, and the challenges faced in its learning process.
The results of the study indicate that learning Modern Standard Arabic in Jordan is crucial for preserving cultural identity, despite the influence of globalization and the dominance of foreign languages. While Fusha is used in education, media, and literature, many young people prefer local dialects or English in their daily lives. Educational institutions and cultural activities play a key role in promoting and preserving Modern Standard Arabic
