Abstract

Health in Islam emphasizes physical, mental, and spiritual balance through teachings on
cleanliness, healthy eating, and evidence-based medicine supported by the contributions of
Muslim scholars such as Ibn Sina and Al-Razi. This study aims to understand the concept
of health culture in Islam, trace its historical development, and identify prominent figures
in the field of Islamic health. The research method employed is a descriptive literature review,
with inclusion criteria consisting of scientific articles from the last 10 years, books, or reliable
sources relevant to the research topic, and exclusion criteria for studies containing outdated
or less relevant data. The findings indicate that the health culture in Islam encompasses a
system of values, norms, and practices derived from religious teachings, starting from the
Prophet Muhammad’s era, which emphasized cleanliness and herbal medicine, to the
Abbasid period, marked by significant contributions from scholars like Al-Razi and Ibn Sina.
Figures such as Al-Zahrawi, Ibn al-Nafis, and Ibn al-Haytham also made substantial
contributions. The health culture in Islam represents a synthesis of religious teachings,
traditional medicine, and scientific advancements to maintain the physical and spiritual
well-being of society.
