Abstract
The history of medicine records significant advancements during the golden age of Islam. Muslim physicians became pioneers in various fields of knowledge, including medicine. Their contributions served as foundational references for medical practices across different regions of the world. These achievements demonstrate that integrating scientific knowledge with Islamic values contributed to advancing Islamic civilization. Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is committed to fostering distinguished scholars like Ibn Sina, aligning with its academic ideals and philosophy of knowledge development. Therefore, the paradigm of the ulul albab doctor has been developed as a defining characteristic of its graduates. This review is a case study based on literature studies of various relevant documents to provide an overview of the characteristics and scientific concepts of Ulul Albab doctors. The characteristics of the ulul albab doctor are reflected in four core pillars: spiritual depth, ethical excellence, extensive knowledge, and professional maturity. The scientific concept developed is described as a metaphor for a tree of knowledge, where the roots, trunk, branches, leaves, and fruits represent an integrative approach to the learning process, as systematically reflected within the curriculum. With these characteristics and scientific concepts, Ulul Albab doctors are able to meet the competency demands according to the Indonesian Doctor Competency Standards and answer the challenges of modern medical developments.
