Abstract
Environmental issues are an urgent global challenge, including in Indonesia, which is experiencing severe impacts such as deforestation and pollution. Generation Z holds significant potential in promoting environmental conservation, driven by their growing awareness of social and ecological concerns. This study aims to explore the construction of religiosity and environmental conservation narratives among Generation Z in Indonesia, as well as the factors influencing their engagement.Using a qualitative approach through focused interviews, this research investigates Generation Z’s perspectives on environmental conservation from an Islamic viewpoint, particularly through the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The findings reveal that environmental conservation is perceived as both a moral and spiritual obligation, with religious values playing a key role in shaping ecological consciousness. The factors encouraging their involvement include awareness of environmental impacts, the influence of technology and social media, and participation in community initiatives. However, their engagement is still hindered by limited practical awareness, inadequate facilities, and socio-economic constraints. This study recommends stronger collaboration between educational institutions, religious organizations, and the government to enhance Generation Z’s involvement in environmental conservation grounded in Islamic values.
