Abstract
Many parents are unaware of speech delays in early childhood because they assume that speaking ability will develop as their child gets older. In fact, early intervention is very important to optimize a child's language development. This study aims to identify early intervention strategies that parents can implement at home for children aged 3–4 years with speech delays. The data obtained in this study were collected using a qualitative case study approach, which was conducted on four early childhood therapists at SLB River Kids, and they were directly observed as they handled children with speech delays. The results of this study are several approaches that parents can use at home: 1) involving children in every parental activity 2) clear and slow verbal pronunciation by parents 3) engaging in fun activities such as reading books together, singing, and playing 4) always communicating with children in a two-way manner 5) documenting every development and difficulty of children to be consulted with therapists 6) being wise and minimizing screen time. Therefore, moving forward, parents are encouraged to involve children in every simple activity and communicate using verbal language in a two-way manner.
