Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study investigates how the existence of religious scholars in the digital era, characterized by the dominance of new media and pop culture, influences people's understanding andpractice of religion. Through qualitative research, this study shows that new media has transformed the way people access religious information and interact with religious scholars. While new media offers easier access, it also presents challenges such asthe proliferation of inaccurate information and the commercialization of religion. This study highlights the importance of digital religious literacy for the public to be able to critically evaluate information circulating on social media and choose credible religious references.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini menyelidiki bagaimana eksistensi ulama di era digital, yang ditandai oleh dominasi newmedia dan budaya pop, memengaruhi pemahaman dan praktik keagamaan masyarakat. Melalui kajian kualitatif, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa new media telah mengubah cara masyarakat mengakses informasi keagamaan dan berinteraksi dengan ulama. Meskipun new media menawarkan akses yang lebih mudah, namun juga menghadirkan tantangan seperti proliferasi informasi yang tidak akurat dan komersialisasi agama. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya literasi digital keagamaan bagi masyarakat untuk dapat mengkritisi informasi yang beredar di media sosial dan memilih rujukan keagamaan yang kredibel
