Abstract

Moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) is a plant commonly used in traditional medicine. Moringa herbal oil VCO extract has the potential as an ingredient in making lotions to increase antioxidant value. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant content and SPF value of lotion preparations from herbal oil virgin coconut oil extract, where the herbal oil used was made with and without tween 80 and PEG 400 in the extraction process. The lotion formulation was carried out with and without the addition of TiO2. The extraction methods used in this study were the hot maceration and ultrasonic methods. The lotion was made from Moringa leaf powder extract in VCO solvent. The results of the lotion formulation will be tested for quality with antioxidant tests, SPF tests, pH tests, phase separation tests, homogeneity tests, and spreadability tests. The antioxidant test uses the DPPH method while the SPF test uses the Mansur method which measures its absorbance using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study showed that F12 lotion with the ultrasonic method had the best antioxidant activity and SPF value with an IC50 value of 129.9 ± 15.4 ppm and an SPF value of 25.9
