Abstract

皆さんは「ホヤ」をご存じだろうか．関東～東北地方 では「ホヤ貝」という名前で珍味として売られているので，食べたことがあるかもしれない．ホヤは海中の岩な どに付着して生活している動物で，実は貝ではなく，ヒトやサカナなどと同じ「脊索動物」というグループに属 する．日本でよく知られているのは食用になるマボヤと アカボヤの2種類だが，世界中で2,000種類以上のホヤ が知られている．
