Abstract

By using the thematic-comparative method with a library research model, this paper aims to explain the description of the concept of the creation of the universe between the Qur'an and the Bible and how it’s relevant to the world's natural-ecological concerns. Discussions about the creation of the universe have been going on since centuries BC, precisely since the era of Ancient Greece where the sophistication of technology. Arguably, that the mysteriousness of the universe is an interesting topic in a scientific discussion. Even today, humans only know a little bit of the mysterious knowledge of the universe. The normative naration of the creation of the universe is informed in religious texts, the Qur'an and the Bible being one of them. The results found are at least two points, first, that the discussion of the creation of nature is very condensed with theological elements. Both the Qur'an and Biblical perspectives state that their God is the creator of the universe. Regarding the period of creation of nature, both also have similarities, namely that nature was created in six days. There is a debateble on term “day”, whether the word means harfiyah, or majazi. The differences, the Qur'an explicitly does’t mention detailed information on the process of creating nature on each day. In contrast, the Bible explicitly mentioned it. Secondly, the interpretation of kauniyah-theological verses for today, it cannot be denied that the intention of the Creator to create nature is for the space of creature life that inhabit it, in order they care about the environment and nature. A guideline is needed, so the sustainability and harmony of nature and humans are maintained.
