Abstract
This study investigates the potential of sugarcane bagasse fiber as a
partial cement substitute in the production of environmentally friendly, non
structural precast concrete. The research aims to evaluate the effect of bagasse
fiber content on the elasticity of concrete. An experimental method was employed,
involving 12 cylindrical concrete specimens with varying bagasse fiber contents of
0%, 5%, 10%, 25%, and 30%. Each variation included three samples, tested for
splitting tensile strength according to SNI 2491:2014 (equivalent to ASTM
C496/C496M-04). The results indicate that increasing the proportion of bagasse
fiber leads to a decrease in both the elastic modulus and compressive strength of
the concrete. At 30% bagasse fiber and 28 days of curing, the average modulus of
elasticity was 1,602.76 MPa, classifying the material as low-strength lightweight
concrete suitable for thermal insulation applications. This research supports the
advancement of sustainable construction practices by utilizing agricultural waste,
while also offering an accessible and eco-friendly concrete alternative for small
and medium-sized enterprises.
