Abstract
This research aims to examine the law of alimony
in the context of the family through a socio-anthropological
lens. Alimony, as a fundamental obligation in family
relations, not only has a legal dimension that regulates rights
and obligations, but is also closely tied to social constructions,
cultural values, and kinship practices that prevail in society.

Through a qualitative approach with literature study and
document analysis methods, this study elaborates how the
concept and implementation of alimony la w is influenced by
various social and cultural factors. This study identifies
variations in the understanding and practice of alimony
across cultures, gender roles in alimony, and power
dynamics and hierarchy in the family that affect the
enforcement of al imony laws. On the other hand, the
researcher also analyzes how social change and
modernization affect the interpretation and application of
alimony law in the context of the contemporary family. An
in-depth discussion of the data of this research is expec ted to
provide a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of
alimony law, go beyond the formal legal perspective alone,
and provide implications for the development of family law
policies to be more responsive to the social and cultural
realities of s ociety.
