Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a high mortality rate, characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to insulin dysfunction. Treatment success is influenced by patient adherence to antidiabetic medication, which is also affected by the level of knowledge in controlling the disease and preventing complications.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of knowledge level on therapy adherence in outpatients at the Adan-Adan Health Center, Kediri Regency. The type of research conducted used quantitative research that was analytic in nature with a crosssectional approach. Sampling using non probability sampling with incidental sampling technique. The research instrument used DKQ-24 and MMAS-8 questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used is simple linear regression test. The results of the analysis conducted on 100 respondents found 76% of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge, 14% low, and 10% high. While at the level of adherence, 49% of respondents had a moderate level of adherence, 38% were low, and 13% were high. The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence between the level of knowledge about diabetes and adherence to the use of antidiabetic drugs, this is evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 and the value of t count > t table. Then the influence between the level of knowledge and adherence is 24.9%.
