Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of peers on the formation of disciplined character of grade IX students at MTs Ma'arif Sukorejo. Peers are one of the external factors that play an important role in the development of adolescent character, including in terms of discipline. Discipline as a character that supports academic and nonacademic success is greatly influenced by the social environment, especially interpersonal relationships with peers. In this context, positive and constructive interactions with peers can form good habits, compliance with rules, and high personal responsibility. This study uses a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression analysis method. From a total population of 118 students, 92 students were used as research samples. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. This study also went through the stages of normality, linearity, and heteroscedasticity tests before hypothesis testing was carried out. The data were then analyzed using the SPSS version 16 application. The results showed that there was a significant influence between peers on the formation of students' disciplined character. Students who have healthy interactions, emotional support, and good communication with peers tend to show higher levels of discipline. This study concludes that social relationships in peer groups have a major contribution to the formation of student character, especially in terms of discipline. These findings provide recommendations for schools to pay attention to students' social dynamics and encourage the creation of a positive social environment.
