Abstract
English:
The study of epistemology discusses the sources and methods of knowledge. The source of knowledge in Ibn Rushd is based on two things: revelation and reality, both physical and non-physical. However, both these sources are not independent but integral and inseparable, so that knowledge which is born does not contradict each other. The means to get knowledge consists of 3 things: the external senses, internal senses and intellect, and the method consist of 2 phases, namely formation theory (tashawur) and logical reasoning (tashdiq). Ibn Rushd thought of epistemology has certain consequences; the concept of two sources of knowledge to reconcile religion and philosophy, but also can lead to materialism dan secularism if they are separated. Meanwhile, in the means to get knowledge, giving priority to the ratio than the intellect can be considered to downgrades a basic human potential which does not only consist of the ratio, but also emotion and spirituality. Even the emotional and spiritual potential assessed is greater than the ratio that only accounts for 20% of human success.

Kajian epistemology mendiskusikan tentang sumber dan metode pengetahuan. Menurut Ibn Rusyd, pengetahuan bersumber atas 2 hal: wahyu dan realitas, baik fisik maupun non-fisik. Namun, kedua sumber ini tidak bersifat mandiri melainkan satu kesatuan yang tidak terpisahkan, sehingga pengetahuan yang lahir dari keduanya tidak saling bertentangan. Sarana yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan terdiri atas 3 hal: indera eksternal, indera internal dan intelek, sedang metodenya terdiri atas 2 tahapan, yaitu pembentukan teori (tashawur) dan penalaran logis (tashdiq). Pemikiran epistemology Ibn Rusyd ini mempunyai konsekuensi-konsekuensi tertentu. Konsep dua sumber pengetahuan dapat mempertemukan agama dan filsafat, tetapi juga dapat menggiring kepada materialism dan sekularisme jika dipisahkan. Sementara itu, pada aspek sarana, pemberian prioritas pada rasio dibanding intelek dapat dianggap mengerdilkan potensi dasar manusia yang tidak hanya terdiri atas rasio, tetapi juga emosi dan spiritualitas. Bahkan potensi emosi dan spiritual dinilai lebih besar daripada rasio yang hanya menyumbang 20% dari kesuksesan manusia.
