Abstract
This book entitles Test of English Proficiency: Theories and Practices is attempted to provide students with the sufficient practices of English language Testing related to general skills, strategies, practice and confidence students need to succeed in all sections: Listening, Structure and written expression as well as reading comprehension.
1. To provide a comprehensive course for intermediate students who wish to succeed in English as the foreign language test. This course contains sufficient material about a semester of half academic year. It is assumed that the students will receive about three credit semester per meeting, it is hoped that in practicing this book, both teacher and students can develop their listening, structure and written expression as well as reading skill though the text provided in this book. However, other resources can also be applied to enrich the suitable information about the subject.
2. To train student in three skills of English language test: listening comprehension, understanding the structure and written expression, and reading comprehension text. This course also sets out to provide suitable material that can be used to drill the students’ skill in Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL).
3. To provide students with a handbook that can help them to practice the English language testing.
4. To provide the teacher with well-co-ordinated and graded material that can help him or her to conduct the lesson with a good preparation.
5. To enable both teacher and students to work entirely from the pre-teaching activity, whilst activity as well as post activity which also includes the evaluation.
Through this Test of English Proficiency: Theories and Practices workbook or module, it is expected that both teacher and students can also develop the materials of this book. Therefore, the learning process does not stop as the semester finishes.
