Abstract

This research uses descriptive qualitative method which aims to determine the role of super thugs social organizations in women's empowerment in Malang. In 2010 there was an initiation from the association of these mothers to form an organization, but it still became a mere discourse and finally in 2013 a social organization called Preman Super (Women's Independent Source of Change) was established in Malang City. Over time the “Preman Super” not only operated in Malang but also in Malang Regency and Batu City. The role of the “Preman Super” organization for Women's Empowerment has actually gone well, because the aim of the establishment of the “Preman Super” organization is to alleviate poverty and empower women through the programs they run. On the other hand “Preman Super” organizations have made women better and more competitive after they joined this organization. So clearly, the role given by the “Preman Super” organization is very important for the life of the community, especially women in Malang.
