Abstract
This paper summarizes the description on case study specifically to research on English Language Teaching. It includes the general criteria and some underlying issues in applying this method in ELT research contexts. For students in Thesis Writing Clinic, it is important to note that the explanation on the case study research method should be made in detail covering the typology of research context, the validity and reliability as well as the way to analyze the result. This is because a good finding using case study design shows that it relied on all the relevant evidence; all major rival interpretations are dealt; most significant issue of the study is addressed; prior expert knowledge is brought to the study.
