Abstract

Allah has created man and woman, both of whom have the right to perfect worship. The way to perfect the worship is by carrying out lawful and healthy actions, namely marriage. The purpose of a legal and sharia marriage in Islam is to give birth to children or to carry on our good descendants. Men in marrying women may select whoever they wish, but there are some women who are forbidden to be married. The forbidden marriage was mentioned clearly in the Qur'an An-Nisa’ verse 23. One of the factors that can be illegitimate is due to blood relations. This study aims to find out how the concept of modern medical science about the prohibition of incest marriage, then researchers begin by linking genetic science (heredity), because genetics is what carries the nature and several hereditary diseases. This type of research is a qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive approach with a grounded theory design. The result of this research is that every human being inherits a defective gene, thus close relatives have a greater risk of inheriting the same defective gene from their parents. then, if a sibling marries and gives birth to a child, there is a high probability that the child will inherit two copies of the same damaged gene, which endanger all organ functions, such as immune function, heart function, kidney function, nerve function, and will also inherit bad character that exists in both parents.
