Abstract

The learning environment of an educational institution becomes an important part in improving the quality of education. Student perceptions of the learning environment can describe the educational climate of an educational institution. This perception of the learning environment determines the behavior of students so that it can influence learning achievement. The purpose of this study is to see how perceptions of the learning environment influence the learning achievement of medical students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. A cross-sectional survey was conducted for all medical education students (n = 148) to measure students' perceptions of the learning environment using the John Hopkins Learning Environment Scale (JHLES) composed of 7 components. Of the 145 respondents who completed the questionnaire (98%) the results showed that the relationship between students and lecturers, mentoring, educational climate, student involvement, inclusion and safety and interaction between students had a positive influence on student learning achievement. While the physical environment has no effect on learning achievement. It can be concluded that the non-physical factors of the learning environment have more influence on the learning achievement of medical students compared to the physical environment.
