Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of elementary school teachers about their work and how it impact to their professionalism work as teacher. The analysis carried out qualitatively. Data collected through an open questioner and followed by interviews with several teachers who considered as their representatives in Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The results of the reading of the questionnaire and interview data are combined to understand the meaning and find categories until essential themes found as research findings. This study found that elementary school teachers, both public and private, perceived well about their professions as teachers. They see teaching is a noble work. Many teachers are experiencing a dilemma in undergoing the profession as a teacher. This research imply that authorities in government and institution has to provide a solution to the dilemmas faced by teachers in primary schools so that they have high enthusiasm for carrying out their profession as teachers in primary schools.
