Abstract

The formation of religious behavior became a social movement that emphasized the tendency for behavior in Muslim communities at Tumpang Village - Blitar. The purpose of research is to understand the process of internalizing esotericisme of Islam – Java values that can shape the construction of local actor’s identities in driving social mobility and empowering people in economic and social religious activities. This is a qualitative research with a phenomology approach. The research subject is Ibnu Aqil as a local actor who has the power to move the religious community to integrate Islam in various economic and social activities. Data collection techniques by interview, observation and documentation. Whereas data analysis using Miles & Huberman and data validity checking using triangulation and peer reviewing techniques. The results is: (1) Esotericism of Islam – Java is a driving force or driver and controller of the people actions at Tumpang Village in carrying out animal husbandry business in accordance with cultural values and Islamic teachings; and (2) Esotericism of Islam – Java is a reality that empowers the people of Tumpang Village based on reflective studies of Islamic teachings and values. The approach to religion as exemplified by Ibnu Aqil makes religion not only live in a theological area that is empty of humanitarian space, but also became the spirit and unifying community of Tumpang Village to see religion in a broader and contextual functional aspect in various fields of life, for example in the field of animal husbandry.
