Abstract

Research of biofilter development made of dates and coffee as an absorber of smoke-free radicals and their effects on MDA levels and quality of sperm in mice has been done. Mice used weighed 30-50 grams and aged 9-10 weeks. Mice were divided into 5 groups: control group, treatment group 1, treatment group 2, treatment group 3 and treatment group 4. The control group was treated without being exposed to cigarette smoke, the treatment group 1 was exposed to smoke cigarettes without biofilter, treatment group 2 was exposed to cigarette smoke clove with a biofilter made of dates, treatment group 3 was exposed to smoke with a coffee-based biofilter, treatment groups 4 exposed to cigarette smoke bioflter mixture of dates and coffee. Exposure to cigarette smoke for 4 weeks, with a day one clove cigarettes. From this study, the results of MDA value levels of mice in each treatment the K- (542.2 ng / ml), K1 (661.2 ng / ml), K2 (454 ng / ml), K3 (514 ng / ml) and K4 ( 466.8 ng / ml) showed the lowest levels of MDA is in treatment using a biofilter with date stones which 454 ng / ml and the results of MDA, the highest in treatment K1 661.20 ng / ml. the number of spermatogenic cells of mice in each treatment that K- (237.2), K1 (183.2), K2 (235.4), K3 (205.8) and K4 (230.6). The results of the highest number of spermatogenic cells in the treatment of smokeless (normal) and treatment using biofilters date stones at 235.4 and the lowest is the number of spermatogenic cells in treatment K1 (without biofilter) amounted to 183.2.
