Abstract

their higher education institutions to be able to become a World Class University (WCU). One factor supporting the success of these directives is to achieve effective collaboration in institutions both internally and externally. The development of information technology has enabled collaboration more advance and effective. However, at the level of the reasearch object, the condition is still not utilized effectively despite the need for this collaboration has clearly stated in their strategic organization direction.

This study contains efforts to increase collaboration in higher education in Indonesia in effective way using one case study which is one of the major Islamic higher education institution in Indonesia, UIN Malang. This study proposed a new model and architecture equipped with adequate support tools to achieve effective collaboration. Method approach used is to design business models and achieving success through a successful adoption of IT transformation.

The results of the analysis conducted in the research on the study object shows that the majority of the strategic direction UIN Malang requires collaboration that need using information technology in their both communication, internally and externally. Additionally, UIN Malang also has several collaborations in the internal facilities organization. However, there is a need to optimize the use of those collaboration tools.
