Abstract

Ghyna Aroby is a contest of singing Arabic song. The purpose of this research is to find out the students' Istima Skills Improvement through the Ghina’ Aroby Contest. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with observation, interviews and documentation as the data collection methods. The results of the study shows that there is an increasing of students' istima skills. It can be shown by the achievement of learning objectives of istima skill, 1) Able to listen, pay attention and focus on the material heard. 2) Able to follow what is heard and master it in accordance with the purpose of listening. 3) Able to understand what is heard from the speaker's speech quickly and precisely. 4) Add new vocabulary. The students' difficulties in taking part in the Ghina Aroby competition are: 1) They find it difficult to memorize Arabic song lyrics because Arabic is not their daily language. 2) Feeling difficulty in pronouncing song lyrics, because there are some foreign words or sentences, for example songs that use Arabic 'ammiyah. 3) lack of practice 4) lack of vocabulary mastery.
