Abstract
The research is the students who are still less active and the lack of variations in the
learning model used and not optimal in its application. The purpose of this study is to
describe the application of the make a match cooperative learning in social studies class
VIII subjects at MTsN 1 Malang, as well as to proves that the application of the make a
match learning model has an effect on the activity and learning outcomes in social studies
class VIII at MTsN 1 Malang. This study uses experimental quantitative research with a
true experimental design, posttest only control design. The sample was determined by
purposive sampling, class VIII G as the control class and class VIII H as the experimental
class. The data analysis technique used was comparative analysis using the Paired Sample
T-test with a significance level of (0,05). Based on the results of data analysis, it was found
that the application of make a match students were more active and student learning
outcomes were much above the KKM, with a significance of 0,000 < 0,05 then Ho1 was
rejected and Ha1 was accepted, so there was an influence of the make a match cooperative
learning model on learning activity. And a significance of 0.000 <0.05, then Ho2 is rejected
and Ha2 is accepted, so there is an influence of the make a match cooperative learning
model on learning outcomes.
