Abstract

Lisanul Arab Dictionary is still considered one of the main reference sources in the field of Arabic lexicography. A comprehensive analysis of this dictionary can help understand the lexicographic approach used by Ibn Manzur and provide information about the methods of classifying words in Arabic at the time. Research involves analyzing sources, word collection and organization processes, and how to deal with deficiencies in the dictionary. Using qualitative research, a literary study will be conducted to understand the dictionary background. It may increase triangulation to ensure data correctness. This study will provide a deeper understanding of Ibn Manzur's methods of understanding Arabic language and culture. Ibn Manzur in the dictionary" Lisanul Arab" organizes the words in alphabetical order. Al-Gohari's approach was adopted in dividing words into chapters and chapters, connecting the last and first letters of the word to the chapter and chapter according to the order of the alphabet. The dictionary consists of 28 juan, corresponding to the well-known Arabic characters. It is a huge dictionary with references from the Qur'an and Hadith, and is an essential reference in the study of the Arabic language." Ibn Manzur's Majmoo'Lisan al-Arab is a treasure trove of Arabic linguistics, including definitions of words, verses from the Holy Qur'an, hadiths and Arabic culture.
