Abstract

Comparative language style is a phenomenon of using language which always
juxtaposes two objects as media of parables even though they have different
conditions and existence. As for this research, it aims to represent what language
styles and their functions are contained in the poem "Risalah Min Al-Mu'taqil"
by Samil Al-Qashim. The type of research applied in this study is descriptive
qualitative, with two types of data, namely "primary and secondary". The data
collection process was carried out using reading and writing techniques, then the
data that had been collected was then analyzed through three stages, namely
reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The results in this study
indicate that there are several types of comparative figurative language
implemented by Samil Al-Qashim in his poem "Risalah Min Al-Mu'taqil".
Among them are one metaphor, one parable and three personifications. The three
types of comparative figurative language have their own aims and objectives
