Abstract

This research aims to explain how the Gresik Movie community can exist through the programs it carries out, and its role in local culture. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used were observation, in-depth interviews, and literature study. Observations were carried out by going into the field in several activity programs organized by the Gresik Movie community. Indepth interviews were conducted directly with the founders of the community, while literature research was carried out from several documents in online media. The results of the research show that the Gresik Movie community can survive for more than a decade, and through the programs it organizes, local culture is always included in it. Information from data collection states that there are several programs as an effort to elevate local culture, including Sapa Sinema (film screening program in villages), Gresik Short Movie Competition, Film Seminar/Sarasehan, Art Exhibition (both fine and performing arts), Film Making Workshop/training, and Cultural Festival.
