Abstract

This research seeks to bridge the educational gap for young learners with hearing impairments in Indonesia by designing a specialized thematic dictionary application. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these students—such as limited auditory feedback and lack of resources—this application integrates trilingual content (English, Indonesian, and sign language) and thematic organization, promoting enhanced vocabulary acquisition and English language proficiency. Following the ADDIE instructional model, this study details the comprehensive design, development, and evaluation processes, with a focus on accessibility and user-centered design. The findings suggest that a thematic dictionary tailored for EYL with hearing impairments significantly improves engagement and supports vocabulary retention, contributing to more inclusive language education.
