Abstract

This study explores some various strategies practiced effectively as the reader goes through the stages of skimming, scanning, prediction creating, asking, pre-reading, reading, and deep post-reading language learning classroom. This research aims to find out which reading methods, among Know-Want-Learnt (KWL), Survey-Question-Read-Recite-Review (SQ3R) and Think-Pair-Share (TPS), that students mostly prefer to apply while experiencing those stages. It is essential to know since the results indicate the efficacy of the methods associated with reading comprehension skill or reading text mastery. Thus, it leads to the discovery and development of particular reading comprehension techniques or methods to realize/perform effective English reading skills teaching and learning that can be designed to meet/embrace the needs of students who have various English skills levels. Furthermore, the highlight is the importance of teachers' strong understanding regarding the essential reading techniques and methods to teach reading skills and create comprehensive lesson plans for improving students’ English reading skills.
