Abstract

Vygotsky emphasizes the role of social interaction and
the environment in shaping children's understanding and skills.
There is still limited research on how children acquire Arabic
language, especially in Islamic educational institutions such as RA
Al-Jannah Koto Majidin. Therefore, researching the acquisition of
Arabic language in students at RA Al-Jannah Koto Majidin from the
perspective of Vygotsky is relevant to address questions about how
children acquire Arabic language and how Vygotsky's theory can
explain this process in more depth. This research aims to explain
how Arabic vocabulary is learned by students at RA Al-Jannah Koto
Majidin based on Vygotsky's perspective. This study is qualitative
research with descriptive analysis. The research sample consists of
2 male and 3 female students selected randomly (probability
sampling). The results obtained are the acquisition of Arabic
vocabulary in students at RA Al-Jannah Koto Majidin based on
Vygotsky's theory, which consists of 5 concepts discussing the
cognitive development of early childhood: (1) Zone of proximal
development, where students are not yet able to acquire Arabic
language independently; (2) Scaffolding, where students receive
assistance from teachers and more capable peers; (3) Language
and thought, where students will repeat pronouncing the learned
vocabulary; (4) Cooperative learning, where students collaborate
cooperatively in answering questions given by the teacher; (5)
Giving examples, where the teacher provides concrete examples to
students regarding the learned vocabulary. The research indicates
that the acquisition of Arabic vocabulary in students at RA Al
Jannah Koto Majidin occurs through these five Vygotsky concepts
