Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the strategies used by both public and private universities to improve and maintain the quality of their institutions. This research uses the library research method by looking for literature that is in accordance with the theme. The literature, after being collected, is then analyzed and interpreted. The findings obtained are that the legal basis for quality assurance in higher education has been regulated in Law No. 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education and Regulations of the Minister of Education and Culture and Law No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education Standards. The quality assurance system is divided into two systems, namely the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and the External Quality Assurance System (SPME). This internal quality assurance system is carried out by each agency to maintain the quality of education managed in it. Meanwhile, the external quality assurance system is carried out by an external accreditation agency or institution where the system follows the internal agency which is adjusted to the internal quality assurance system.
