Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of education in shaping students' social character, especially in the midst of moral challenges of adolescents in the era of globalization. Social studies teachers have a strategic role in instilling social values because the subject matter is directly related to social life. This study aims to describe the role of social studies teachers in instilling social attitudes in students at MTs Negeri 1 Nganjuk, as well as identify factors that support and hinder the process. This research used a qualitative approach of case study type, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of social studies teachers, students, and madrasah head. The results showed that social studies teachers act as educators, mentors, and role models in instilling six indicators of social attitudes: honesty, discipline, cooperation, confidence, responsibility, and tolerance. The strategies used include the integration of social values in learning, exemplary, and personal approach to students. Supporting factors include a religious school environment and support from parents, while inhibiting factors include students' family backgrounds and time constraints. This study concludes that the cultivation of social attitudes requires a holistic and collaborative approach, with the active role of social studies teachers as the main key to its success.
