Abstract

This study aims to describe the concept of religious moderation values in six student films produced by State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN). The main focus of this research lies in the implementation of moderation values, the narrative structure (intrinsic elements) of the films that contain the teachings of religious moderation, and the visualization of moderation values in student films, covering four key aspects: national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and friendliness toward local culture and traditions. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis techniques focusing on narrative and visual elements of the films. The findings reveal that the six films consistently portray religious moderation values through diverse representations of stories and characters. The value of national commitment is reflected in the depiction of patriotism, respect for national symbols, and efforts to maintain unity amid diversity. The value of tolerance is shown through harmonious interactions among characters from different backgrounds. The value of anti-violence is evident in conflict resolution that prioritizes dialogue and peaceful approaches. Meanwhile, the value of friendliness toward local culture and traditions appears in the positive representation of local wisdom aligned with Islamic teachings. These findings emphasize that films, as a medium of student expression in PTKIN, can serve as an effective public educational tool in grounding the values of religious moderation while strengthening the narrative of an inclusive, patriotic, and contextual Islam within a multicultural society.
