Abstract
Life-Based Learning (LBL) has gained significant traction in online and blended learning environments, particularly following the disruptions caused by the pandemic. This chapter examines the integration of LBL into these educational modes, emphasizing its focus on real-life experiences to enhance learning relevance and engagement. Online learning, conducted entirely via digital platforms, offers flexibility in terms of time and location, enabling students to interact and collaborate across various settings. Meanwhile, blended learning combines the advantages of both online and face-to-face learning, resulting in a more comprehensive educational experience. The chapter highlights how LBL can be implemented effectively in these settings by encouraging students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems, engage in project-based learning, and participate in collaborative online discussions. It also examines the challenges of technology integration, including accessibility issues and the complexity of fostering collaboration in online environments. Through various case studies, the chapter demonstrates how real-world projects, problem-solving tasks, and reflective learning can be effectively facilitated in both online and blended learning formats. The use of mobile applications and learning management systems (LMS) further enhances student engagement by providing interactive, practical experiences. Ultimately, this chapter asserts that LBL in online and blended learning environments can provide students with the skills and competencies necessary for success in the modern, digital world, while also fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
